T.J. Karr

Head of Finance

T.J. Karr has more than 15 years of finance experience and specializes working with growing technology and Subscription-as-a-Service companies in their lifecycles from start up to public. In his current role, T.J. leads the Finance and Human Resources functions at THREAD.

T.J. began his career in technology at Red Hat, an open source software provider and a pioneer of the software subscription model. At Red Hat, he built a breath of experience in financial reporting, technical accounting, financial planning & analysis, tax, treasury, mergers & acquisitions and investor relations as the company scaled to over $3B in annual revenue before its acquisition by IBM. Prior to joining THREAD in July 2023, he served as Chief Financial Officer of PrecisionHawk, a drone software and services company, and lead the company through its merger with an international buyer.

T.J. holds degrees of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Masters of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business school. He is a credentialed valuation specialist and a Certified Public Accountant.
